The Family

The Florida Faith & Freedom Coalition believes families are the foundation of civil society. Issues such as taxes, healthcare, and education all significantly impact Florida’s families.

At the state level, we support policies such as those embodied in SB 322, passed in the 2019 legislative session. This bill requires insurers and HMOs to cover preexisting medical conditions. HB 449, requiring providers to offer good faith estimates of health care costs to patients, is another example of putting families first in health care policy. Patients who are able to find better prices for health care services are able to receive a portion of those savings in the form of cash payments.

Another bill benefiting families is SB 7070, expanding private school scholarships for families from low-income households. The bill also expands the “Schools of Hope” program, permitting charter schools to locate near underperforming public schools.

Nationally, the Faith & Freedom Coalition helped double the child tax credit to $2,000 per child as part of the “The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.” We also support the First Amendment Defense Act (FADA) to ensure that no federal agency can discriminate against any individuals or institutions who adhere to deeply held religious beliefs about marriage.
